Job Description
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influence theory and practice in a given field. It serves as the entry grade for Master’s degree holders into the academic cadre within the Department of Internal Medicine.
Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research and Dissemination: Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively. Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and national and international learned conferences.
Student Supervision: Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research.
Resource Mobilization: Write proposals for research and development funding.
Policy Development: Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies and lead/coordinate research activities in their subject areas.
Partnerships: Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Curriculum Development: Participate in the development and review of academic programmes and curriculum.
Mentorship: Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development in their specialization.
Examination Management: Handle examination preparation, administration, and management.
Administrative Duties: Participate in administration and management of departmental programmes and activities, and provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Community Outreach: Undertake community outreach activities.
Conferences: Attend and participate in research conferences and seminars.
Other Duties: Perform any other related duty assigned from time to time.
Requirements and Specifications
PhD Status: Evidence of registration for a PhD program.
Academic Qualifications: An earned Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited and recognized University.
Research Output: At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Professional Registration: Must be registered with a relevant professional body where applicable and in good standing.
Community Engagement: Evidence of Community Outreach or Engagement.
Competencies: Possess relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies for the role.
