Job Description
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influence theory and practice in a given field. This is the entry grade for Masters’ degree holders into this academic cadre. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the academic and research excellence of the Department of History while progressing towards their PhD completion.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Undertake teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students in their research activities.
Write proposals for research and development funding.
Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies and lead/coordinate research activities in subject areas.
Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
Participate in curriculum development and review of academic programmes.
Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development.
Manage examination preparation, administration, and departmental programme activities.
Undertake community outreach activities and provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
Attending and participating in research conferences and seminars.
Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time.
Minimum Requirements
Evidence of registration for a PhD program.
An earned Master’ Degree and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited and recognized University.
At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Registration with a relevant professional body where applicable and in good standing.
Evidence of Community Outreach or Engagement.
Relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies in the field of History.
