About the Role
The Tupande Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) Senior Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and enhancing food safety standards within the organization. This role involves managing compliance with international standards, overseeing quality assurance processes, and coordinating audits to ensure the highest levels of food safety and quality in the production chain. Key Responsibilities
Systems Management & Compliance
- Food Safety Manual: Maintain and update the Food Safety Manual in line with BRCGS and FSSC 22000 requirements.
- HACCP Team Leadership: Support and guide the HACCP team, validating Critical Control Points (CCPs) such as drying temperatures (Salmonella control) and metal detection.
- Risk Assessments: Manage VACCP (Food Fraud) and TACCP (Food Defense) assessments, particularly supply chain risks.
- Document Control: Oversee document control to ensure only approved SOPs are in use on the production floor.
Quality Assurance Oversight
- Method Verification: Verify QA testing methods align with FSMS requirements.
- Reporting: Review out-of-spec reports and ensure corrective actions follow root-cause analysis standards.
- Lab Standards: Ensure laboratory testing meets ISO 17025 standards.
- Traceability: Support traceability systems, including bi-annual mass balance and mock recall exercises (trace within 4 hours).
Audits & Verification
- External Audits: Co-lead external certification and customer audits (BRC/FSSC).
- Internal Program: Manage the internal audit program and audit schedule.
- CAPA Management: Own the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process to prevent recurrence of non-conformities.
- Inspections: Conduct GMP inspections and verify Prerequisite Programs (PRPs), including pest control, sanitation, and zoning standards.
- Compliance Checks: Perform unannounced CCP verification checks to ensure full compliance.
Qualifications and Skills
- Academic Background: Minimum of a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or Food Technology.
- Technical Knowledge: Proven experience with ISO 22000, HACCP, FSSC 22000, and BRC standards, as well as auditing of the FSMS.
- Management Experience: Previous experience in managing a team.
- Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve issues.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to accomplish common goals.
- Time Management: Effective management of activities to meet deliverables.
