Role Overview
AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a leading multimodal logistics operator and part of the MSC family, is seeking a Transport Coordinator for the Local Distribution Department in Nairobi. Reporting to the Transport Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating shipment movements, ensuring fleet compliance, and managing logistical documentation to ensure efficient delivery operations.
Key Responsibilities
Rate Management: Request rates and quotations from transporters to ensure competitive pricing.
Order Coordination: Ensure loading orders are issued to transporters before any loading occurs.
Shipment Monitoring: Track all allocated shipments from the loading point to the final delivery destination.
Compliance: Verify truck compliance and safety standards before allocation to clients.
Incident Reporting: Report all accidents or incidents involving shipments while in transit.
Operational Coordination: Manage truck allocation and coordinate loading for both containerized and bulk shipments.
Reporting: Populate and maintain loading reports for all shipments and provide daily updates on cargo planning/projections.
Warehouse Management: Oversee transport operations within AGL warehouses.
Financial Validation: Validate transporter invoices on the TROM system and resolve disputes in a timely manner.
Fleet Optimization: Ensure optimum utilization of AGL vehicles under local distribution.
Data Management: Maintain a comprehensive database of all loading activities.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Business Studies, Transport and Logistics, or a related field.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within the transport or logistics industry.
