Quantum is seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Timber Construction Foreman for an all-timber sustainable project. The project requires precise geometry, disciplined installation, robust waterproofing, and a high standard of finish, with structured construction records for certification.
Project Scope
Subcontracted Work: The timber structural frame is installed by a specialist subcontractor.
In-house Work: Exterior cladding, timber waterproofing, termite protection, and all exterior and interior finishing works are carried out by the in-house team.
Key Responsibilities
Work accurately from architectural and structural drawings.
Check subcontracted timber structure installation against geometry, dimensions, and connection details in accordance with drawings.
Identify and correct deviations before further work proceeds.
Lead and supervise the in-house team for cladding, waterproofing, and finishing works.
Maintain high standards for fixings, timber protection, installation, and finishing quality.
Complete daily construction records and logs to ensure documentation for certification.
Requirements
Experience: Proven track record in delivering timber structures and high-quality finishes on site. Experience must specifically include timber structures (e.g., timber framing, timber roof structures, timber decking, or similar); furniture/joinery-only experience is not suitable.
Technical Skills: Ability to read and apply architectural and structural drawings for complex geometry. Strong understanding of timber fixings, connections, and waterproofing details.
Management: Experience supervising contractors and managing site teams.
Attributes: Exceptional attention to accuracy, detailing, and final finish.
Qualifications: Diploma, KCSE, Professional Certificate, or Vocational training in a relevant field.
