Theatre Technician

The Role

Patanisho Maternity and Nursing Home, a facility dedicated to offering affordable and quality medical services, is seeking a qualified and experienced Theatre Technician to join our team in Nairobi. This full-time role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and efficiency of our surgical theater environment.

Key Responsibilities (Inferred from Role Title and Requirements)

• Prepare the operating theatre and sterile environment for all scheduled surgical procedures.
• Ensure all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterilized, functional, and organized prior to and after use.
• Assist the surgical team (surgeons and nurses) by passing instruments, managing equipment, and anticipating needs during operations.
• Maintain accurate inventory records of surgical instruments and supplies.
• Adhere strictly to infection control, hygiene, and waste disposal protocols within the theatre.
• Monitor and maintain the functionality of specialized theatre equipment.
• Provide immediate support and assistance in emergency situations.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Education/Certification: Diploma or Certificate in Theatre Technology.
• Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in a busy Theatre set-up.
• Competence: Demonstrated competence in handling surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Added Advantage: Training in BEMONC (Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care), BLS (Basic Life Support), and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) is an added advantage.
• Compliance: Must satisfy the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (on leadership and integrity).
