The Tennis Instructor is responsible for providing professional tennis lessons, ensuring high-quality instruction to participants, and fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. The instructor will work closely with individuals or groups to improve their tennis skills, techniques, and overall performance.
Key Responsibilities
Tennis Instruction
Instruction Delivery: Conducting 20 hours of tennis lessons per week for individuals and groups, catering to different skill levels and ages.
Technical Training: Teaching tennis fundamentals, techniques, strategies, and rules to participants of beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
Personalized Coaching: Providing coaching to help participants improve specific skills, including serving, volleying, footwork, and match strategies.
Performance Drills: Organizing practice drills, matches, and conditioning exercises tailored to enhance overall game performance.
Equipment Maintenance and Facility Setup
Safety & Standards: Ensuring tennis courts, nets, and equipment are maintained in good condition and meet safety and performance standards.
Equipment Management: Distributing and maintaining tennis equipment, such as racquets, balls, and practice aids.
Preparation: Preparing lesson plans and organizing the tennis facility for sessions as needed.
Customer Service and Engagement
Professional Interaction: Interacting courteously with participants, providing feedback, answering questions, and addressing concerns promptly.
Engagement: Encouraging a friendly and inclusive atmosphere that promotes enjoyment for all participants.
Requirements and Qualifications
Certification: Certification or documented experience as a Tennis Instructor through a recognized institution such as the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), or equivalent.
Education: BA/BSc/HND or a Professional Certificate.
Teaching Ability: Proven ability to teach tennis to individuals of varying skill levels and ages.
Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong organizational skills for lesson planning and scheduling.
Compliance: Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment.
Valid country driver’s license.
Familiarity with Navy recreation or Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program guidelines.
Experience managing or organizing tennis tournaments.
