We are seeking a Telephone System Installer / Technician to install, configure, and maintain telephone systems, cables, equipment, and related infrastructure to provide reliable communication services.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Maintenance: Install and configure telephone systems, cabling, and related infrastructure. Plan cabling for new systems, ensuring secure routing and connection to exchange equipment.
Troubleshooting: Perform repairs for telephone equipment and lines, resolving connectivity or service issues in a timely manner.
System Testing: Conduct diagnostics and testing to ensure equipment operates within required specifications and conduct routine inspections to prevent malfunctions.
Equipment Setup: Install new lines, handsets, modems, and other telecommunication devices.
Documentation: Update and maintain accurate records of wiring, installations, maintenance activities, and equipment inventories.
Support & Training: Respond to service requests for system modifications and provide technical support or training to users on system operations.
Collaboration: Coordinate with other contractors or technical teams to integrate services with wider infrastructure needs.
Compliance: Comply with industry, military, and safety standards related to system design, security, and data protection.
Requirements and Qualifications
Experience: At least 2-4 years of hands-on experience installing, repairing, and maintaining telephone systems.
Education: High school diploma (KCSE) or equivalent; technical certifications in telecommunications, IT, or a related field are highly preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in cabling, wiring, and telecommunications troubleshooting tools.
Systems Knowledge: Knowledge of telephone switching systems, analog/digital systems, and Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies.
Documentation Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and wiring schematics.
Digital Literacy: Proficiency in computer use and telecommunications testing devices.
Travel & Medical: Must possess a valid passport (valid for at least one year) and be able to travel internationally. Must be able to meet and maintain contract medical requirements for the duration of deployment.
