Role Overview
Kenyatta University is seeking a Technician Grade a/b to support the Pharmacognosy Section. The successful candidate will play a critical role in facilitating teaching and research through laboratory management, specimen preparation, and chemical analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and standardize botanical specimens for teaching and research.
Execute phytochemical extraction procedures and preliminary phytochemical screening.
Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
Assist in organizing and conducting practical sessions.
Manage laboratory inventory.
Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
Support faculty in conducting research.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma or equivalent from a recognized institution in Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Ethnobotany, Plant Taxonomy, Biotechnology, or Applied Biology.
Demonstrated Understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and quality control principles.
Demonstrated experience with the extraction, identification, and basic analysis of phytochemicals.
Computer literacy.
Terms of Service
