The Technical Audit Manager at Kenya Railways is a senior leadership role responsible for directing the technical audit function within the organization. The primary purpose of this role is to provide independent assurance that the company's technical and operational processes are functioning effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with established standards. The manager will lead audit teams, oversee the development of audit programs, and communicate critical findings to senior management and the Board Audit Committee.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Strategy and Planning: Determine audit objectives and scope; develop and obtain approval for the annual audit program.
Team Leadership: Supervise audit teams, assign resources, and manage tasks to ensure audit objectives are met on time.
Standards and Execution: Execute audits in strict accordance with professional auditing standards and internal guidelines.
Quality Control: Review audit reports and work papers to ensure quality, accuracy, and that conclusions are supported by documented evidence.
Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate with management and auditees during the planning and execution phases; conduct exit conferences to discuss findings and emerging risks.
Follow-up and Monitoring: Track the implementation of audit recommendations to ensure that agreed-upon action plans are effectively addressed.
Reporting: Provide monthly progress reports comparing actual performance against the Annual Audit Plan.
Governance: Prepare papers and minutes for the Board Audit Committee and develop internal audit policies and procedures.
Benchmarking: Identify and implement best practices in internal auditing to maintain a high-standard function.
Financial Management: Monitor the budget allocated for internal audits.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or Information Technology. A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology is also required.
Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience, with at least five (5) years in a Senior Management position.
Professional Status: Possession of relevant professional qualifications and membership in a recognized professional body in good standing.
Training: Completion of a management course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in computer applications and audit software.
