Technical Assistant

Under the general guidance of the Technical Manager and within company policies & procedures, the Technical Assistant ensures farms adhere to the company Code of Practice and produce raw material of required quality and quantity in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure production of good quality products as per specifications, monitor crop health and soil conditions, and maintain compliance with export standards.
• Issue daily ticket plans (seed, fertilizer, chemical) via the Crop Management System (e.g., Greenlight Grower Management - GLGM).
• Confirm at farm level that issued ticket plans have been applied daily.
• Daily positive release of blocks for harvesting through Earliest Harvest Date report generation.
• Develop and ensure farms use the updated PPPL.
• Assist in technical customer correspondences and follow up on corrective actions for non-conformances.
• Support scouts on operational farm scouting records.
• Prepare periodic reports as per standards requirements.
• Ensure farm structures comply with required standards.
• Provide technical assistance and advice to growers.
• Conduct spot checks on produce quality in fields and at farm/packhouse intake.
• Report on pest and disease prevalence affecting crop quality or yield potential.
• Monitor and report on trials of new crop varieties and production practices.
• Assist in preparing farms for internal and external audits (GlobalGAP, Tesco Nature, M&S, LEAF Marque, SMETA, etc.).
• Ensure full compliance with food safety regulations and maintain all relevant documentation.
• Collect and follow up on water, crop, and soil samples for analysis per schedule.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to farm workers on best practices in herb cultivation.
• Promote and maintain ethical and professional standards in line with ETI and company regulations.
• Ensure all duties are performed safely in line with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies.
• Monitor and maintain farm hygiene.
• Collect and record crop yields, soil test results, and weather patterns (humidity & temperature) to support decision-making.
• Implement eco-friendly farming methods, including composting, water conservation, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
• Capture minutes in production meetings and handle any other duties assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Essential: Degree or Diploma in Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
• Essential: 5 years or more experience in the industry.
• Essential: Strong strategic planning and communication skills.
• Desirable: Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
• Desirable: Process-driven, self-motivated, team player with strong management and organizational skills.
• Desirable: Thorough knowledge of handling agricultural equipment, chemicals, and fertilizers.
