Job Description
Role Overview
The Team Leader Warehouse is responsible for overseeing the daily execution of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfilment, and dispatch of goods. The incumbent will ensure that products and materials are handled efficiently, safely, and accurately, while maintaining compliance with operational standards, health and safety requirements, and inventory governance procedures.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Inbound & Outbound Operations: In support of the daily load plan, ensure the accurate picking, staging, and loading of product for on-time outbound movement, as well as accurate counting, receiving, and unloading for inbound movement, while ensuring optimal site turnaround time. Ensure on-time replenishment of picking and staging areas.
Stock Management & Inventory Accuracy: Manage full product, containers, and support materials within storage locations as per warehouse layout, enforcing adherence to stacking requirements per dedicated bin.
Production Interface: Ensure stock is removed from production lines/containers and quality pallets are fed to production lines to avoid disruptions, ensuring accurate sign-off between Warehouse and Manufacturing.
Housekeeping & Asset Management: Drive excellent housekeeping standards adhering to layout guidelines. Ensure safe operation of company assets (forklifts, pallet jacks), pre-trip inspections, damage/breakdown reporting, fuel optimization, and maintenance schedule adherence.
Product Quality & Rework: Execute effective rework functions adhering to FIFO (First Expiry, First Out) principles, age management, and stock rotation. Record breakages, decanting, and substandard packaging damages to maximize recovery and minimize write-offs.
System Transactions & Reconciliation: Perform accurate and timeous system transactions, conduct end-of-shift reconciliations, and execute seamless shift handovers.
Activity-Based Resourcing: Align team resources to activity requirements per time of day and day of the week.
People & Team Leadership: Provide continuous on-the-job training, coaching, and counseling. Conduct effective team meetings, manage change, and resolve operational issues.
HSE & Financial Governance: Maintain Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards. Drive financial management by controlling pay costs, reducing overtime/seasonal labor, optimizing fuel/maintenance/sorting costs, and enforcing compliance with governance controls.
Education, Experience & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Professional membership in Supply Chain, Finance, or Procurement bodies is an added advantage.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in warehouse operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role (preferably in a fast-paced bottling or production environment). Proven experience in health and safety compliance and process improvement.
Skills: Strong employee relations, coaching, team development, data-driven decision-making, and focus on operational productivity.
