TakaTaka Solutions is looking for a Team Leader - MRF (Material Recovery Facility) to oversee daily waste sorting, baling, and facility operations at their site. The Team Leader is responsible for managing sorting staff, enforcing strict safety standards, maintaining equipment, coordinating inflow and outflow logistics, and managing inventory and data tracking.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Safety: Lead and instruct the sorting team across baling, sorting, and equipment operations. Enforce and promote a strong culture of safety, ensuring all staff wear full PPE at all times. Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance: Ensure all equipment (conveyors, forklifts, wheel loaders, sorting spaces, bale storage) is cleaned before and after each shift. Communicate daily equipment priorities to operators and coordinate with the maintenance team for scheduled/preventive care. Flag worn-out spares within 48 hours.
Inflow & Outflow Logistics: Coordinate tipper trips for Grade IV, Residual, and Grade A clearance with Logistics. Plan and approve waste inflow from external transporters or camps. Supervise loading of recyclable fractions onto client trucks and update the Sales Tracker after each dispatch.
Store & Inventory Management: Authorize material issuance from the store (fuel, straps). Conduct regular stock checks on MRF consumables and raise procurement requisitions when inventory is low. Track consumables usage.
Data & Administrative Oversight: Verify MRF Data team entries (Inflow, Outflow, Pig Food Sales, Total Sorted, Total Baled) and contribute to weekly OKR reports. Reconcile invoices with Accounts for sold fractions and handle petty cash requisitions for operations.
Casual Staff Management: Confirm and verify casual labor attendance before payment, update weekly targets on the Casual Tracker, and submit bonus reminder notifications to HR and Finance.
Incident Management & HR: Investigate and report accidents or incidents promptly, implementing corrective actions. Participate in disciplinary hearings involving MRF staff and provide input on leave approvals.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Diploma or Degree in any related field. Minimum KCSE Grade B.
Experience: Proven experience in team leading or supervising a production team.
Business Understanding: Deep understanding of manpower utilization and material composition (ability to identify and separate recyclable from non-recyclable waste).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Sheets / Microsoft Office.
