The JSS Teacher – Mathematics, Pre-Technical Studies & Integrated Science is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality instruction in accordance with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). The role involves fostering academic excellence, developing learners' critical thinking and practical skills, maintaining a positive learning environment, and supporting the holistic development of learners. The teacher is also expected to demonstrate strong leadership by mentoring students, contributing to curriculum implementation, leading co-curricular and departmental initiatives where assigned, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to achieve the school's educational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in Mathematics, Pre-Technical Studies, and Integrated Science in accordance with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
- Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, assessments, and learning resources that promote learner achievement.
- Assess, evaluate, and provide timely feedback on learners' academic progress.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and learner-centred classroom environment.
- Integrate practical and hands-on learning approaches to enhance learners' understanding.
- Maintain accurate learner records and prepare academic reports as required.
- Uphold high standards of discipline, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Participate actively in co-curricular activities and school programmes.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to support learner development.
- Provide leadership by mentoring learners, supporting school initiatives, coordinating departmental activities where assigned, and contributing to continuous school improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Education with a specialization in Mathematics and/or Integrated Science, Pre-Technical Studies, or other relevant teaching combinations.
- Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
- At least 2 years' teaching experience in a Junior Secondary School or a similar learning institution will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated competence in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
- Strong ICT skills and the ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning.
