The Davis & Shirtliff Group is the leading supplier of water-related equipment in the East African region. Founded in 1946, business activities are focused on six principal product sectors: Water Pumps, Boreholes, Swimming Pools, Water Treatment, Generators, and Solar Equipment. The Group is Kenyan-based and operates through a network of Kenyan branches.
As a Tax and Compliance Accountant, you will serve as the primary liaison with revenue authorities and ensure the group remains compliant with all tax and statutory regulations across the business.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison with revenue authorities on audits, tax, and related compliance issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the statutory authorities and regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and file VAT, CIT, and other tax and statutory returns in compliance with regulations.
- Conduct proactive tax health-checks for the Group.
- Oversee the processing and custody of tax-related entries, records, and supporting documents.
- Monitor new legislation and ensure timely compliance with these across the business.
- Implement effective tax-planning measures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum upper Second-Class Honours degree in Commerce, Economics, or a related field.
- Fully qualified CPA(K) or ACCA in good professional standing.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a tax advisory firm, FMCG company, manufacturing sector, or similar high-compliance sector, with strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, taxation laws, and compliance risk management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience in dealing with tax authorities and statutory bodies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
- Qualification in law will be an added advantage.
