This role involves overseeing Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) programs at the sub-county level within Kirinyaga County. The officer will be responsible for planning, implementation, and evaluation of ECDE policies, as well as supervising teaching staff and engaging with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality early education standards.\n\n### Duties and Responsibilities\n- Assisting in Planning for programmes and conducting research on ECDE.\n- Participating in stakeholder engagements in the ECDE sector.\n- Mobilizing and sensitizing communities on the need for ECDE.\n- Assisting in the implementation of the ECDE policy.\n- Monitoring and evaluation of the ECDE programmes in the Ward/Sub County.\n- Conduct professional Development and capacity-building for Early Childhood teachers and other stakeholders.\n- Plan and budget for the ECDE play/learning materials and feeding programmes.\n- Mentorship and counselling, supervisory role over ECDE teacher in the County.\n- Induction of new ECDE teachers.\n- Liaising with community, education fraternity, other government departments and other relevant stakeholders on ECDE related matters.\n- Participate in the training of ECDE trainees in the Ward/Sub County.\n- In charge of welfare and discipline.\n- Ensure adequate care of materials and equipment in the Sub County.\n- Maintaining proper inventories of equipment and supplies entrusted to the centre.\n- Coordinating ECDE data collection and submission to the County Director in charge of ECDE.\n- Advising on the appropriate course materials and equipment required for training.\n- Ensuring the maintenance of high standards of professionalism in assessment and maintaining records of learners’ progress within the Ward/Sub County.\n- Evaluating compliance levels with regulatory requirement in the ECDE sector in the regular intervals.\n- Monitoring the compliance for registration of ECDE Centres.\n\n### Job Requirements\n- Possess a degree in Early Childhood Development and Education offered by a recognized institution.\n- Be in possession of a certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.\n- Be registered by the Teacher Service Commission (TSC).\n- Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.\n- Have served as an ECDE teacher for a minimum period of three (3) years.
