Job Description
The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is a statutory agency responsible for regulating and developing efficient Capital Markets in Kenya. This is a student attachment position reporting to the Director, Legal Affairs and Corporation Secretary for a period of three months. The attachment is non-renewable and is designed to provide practical experience in legal affairs and corporate governance within the regulatory framework of Kenya's capital markets.
Responsibilities
Assist in organizing and participating in sensitization workshops and seminars for institutional investors and issuers on Corporate Governance and Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG).
Update corporate governance databases for issuers’ announcements, change of directors, change of CSs, and change of auditors.
Update and analyze the monthly shareholding database for issuers.
Conduct periodic and one-off surveys on sustainability and emerging issues in corporate governance.
Assist in conducting research and preparing legal briefs and opinions.
Support the maintenance of proper records regarding court files, contracts, and legal opinions.
Update the register of judicial precedents related to Capital markets.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be a continuing student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Law or a Diploma in Law.
Alternatively, must be a continuing student at the Kenya School of Law or a continuing Certified Secretary (CS) student.
