Role Overview
The Strategy & Axis Coordinator will support structured consultations with Sudanese stakeholders to inform the development of a specific Fund. This role involves engaging with civil society organizations, Emergency Response Rooms (ERRs), mutual aid networks, and grassroots initiatives. The coordinator is responsible for facilitating dialogue, developing governance structures, and leading the strategic engagement within defined geographic axes to ensure locally-led perspectives inform programming priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Consultation and Engagement
- Facilitate consultations and dialogue sessions with diverse Sudanese stakeholders.
- Ensure perspectives from various regions and constituencies are reflected in the Fund’s development.
- Support inclusive engagement with grassroots and informal actors.
- Capture and synthesize insights derived from stakeholder consultations.
Governance Development
- Contribute to the creation of credible and inclusive governance arrangements grounded in Sudanese realities.
- Support the development of decision-making bodies and mechanisms for stakeholder participation.
- Implement accountability, transparency measures, and safeguards for locally-led decision-making.
Strategic Development and Axis Prioritization
- Refine the Fund’s strategic approach and development of the axis prioritization framework.
- Provide contextual analysis on local response ecosystems and political economy dynamics.
- Support discussions to identify and conceptualize geographic axes for engagement.
- Facilitate strategy workshops and consultations.
Coordination of Axis Engagement
- Lead the coordination of work within selected geographic axes.
- Develop and coordinate relationships with local actors and networks.
- Facilitate dialogue between the Fund and locally-led response actors.
Supporting Accessible Funding Processes
- Ensure funding modalities remain accessible to diverse local actors.
- Identify and mitigate barriers to participation faced by grassroots and community-based actors.
Learning and Systems Analysis
- Analyze the local response ecosystem to identify emerging needs, opportunities, and risks.
- Support reflection and learning processes to inform adaptive programming.
Representation and Coordination
- Represent the Fund in relevant coordination discussions and engagement with civil society networks.
- Build and maintain constructive relationships between the Fund and locally-led response systems.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory Requirements
- Education: University degree in international development, business administration, political science, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 7 years of experience in humanitarian, development, or civil society programming.
- Context Knowledge: Strong understanding of Sudan’s civil society landscape and locally led response systems.
- Expertise: Strong experience facilitating multi-stakeholder consultations and working in conflict-affected environments.
- Languages: Professional proficiency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working with civil society networks, ERRs, or mutual aid initiatives.
- Familiarity with pooled fund mechanisms or multi-donor initiatives.
- Experience supporting governance or strategy development processes.
- French language skills.
