MGM Muthu Hotels, a luxury hotel group that recently expanded its operations in Kenya, is seeking to recruit Stewards to join its team in Nairobi. This role is essential for maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and hygiene expected in a premium hospitality environment.
Role Overview
The Steward is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and food preparation areas. This includes the handling, cleaning, and proper storage of all kitchenware, glassware, and dining utensils. The role supports both the culinary and service teams to ensure smooth and hygienic operations.
Responsibilities
Ensure all kitchen equipment, dishes, and glassware are cleaned and sanitized according to hotel standards.
Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen workspace, including floors, walls, and preparation surfaces.
Properly store cleaned items and manage the organization of the scullery or dishwashing area.
Handle and dispose of kitchen waste and recycling appropriately.
Assist with basic food preparation tasks or set-up for banquets and events as needed.
Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
Requirements
Educational qualification: BA/BSc/HND in a relevant field (as specified by the employer).
Previous experience in a similar role within a hotel or restaurant environment is an added advantage.
High standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
