The Nairobi Hospital is seeking a Specialist Radiologist to review, interpret, and report on radiographic images. The primary objective of this role is to provide accurate diagnoses for patient test results in alignment with established protocols and the hospital's high standards of patient care.
Roles and Responsibilities
Evaluate patients’ medical histories to ensure imaging procedures are safe and recommend alternatives where necessary.
Communicate the medical imaging process clearly to patients.
Supervise examinations involving computer tomography (CT) scanners, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and fluoroscopy.
Provide technical findings on test results for use in diagnosis and treatment.
Perform or guide radiology staff in image-guided diagnostic procedures.
Interpret diagnostic imaging results to determine accurate diagnoses.
Discuss results and diagnoses with referring physicians.
Compile comprehensive reports on test results and diagnoses.
Carry out emergency procedures (e.g., resuscitations, bleeding management) as required by medical protocols.
Participate in radiology research and the development of departmental protocols.
Perform other assigned duties as required by the supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications
Master’s degree in Radiology from a recognized institution.
Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) degree from a recognized institution.
Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council (KMPDC) and a valid practicing license.
A minimum of 5 years of practicing experience in Radiology.
Certification in BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
Interventional Radiology skills are considered a significant advantage.
Skills and Competencies
Proficiency in interpreting MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, and CT scans.
Knowledge of radiation safety standards and quality management systems.
Strong analytical, decision-making, and judgment skills.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
Ability to work under pressure for long hours.
Strong interpersonal and basic counseling skills.
Research and planning/organizing capabilities.
