The Sourcing Category Specialist is responsible for the acquisition of goods and services required by various user departments within the bank. This role involves identifying the most optimal sourcing strategies, managing the tendering process, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure the bank achieves maximum value regarding costs and supply terms. The specialist plays a critical role in stakeholder management, market benchmarking, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing and Procurement: Acquire goods and services by selecting optimal sourcing approaches, publishing, and managing tenders.
Negotiation: Lead negotiations with suppliers to deliver the best value for the bank on costs and supply terms.
Stakeholder Management: Map and manage key stakeholders, including Branch Managers, Heads of Departments, Suppliers, and regulators to ensure seamless execution of requests.
Market Analysis: Perform benchmarking exercises and analyze market trends to provide insights for category-specific decision-making.
Compliance: Implement standards, controls, and regulatory procedures for the assigned procurement category.
Performance Management: Review supplier performance, collate and analyze data for Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and participate in review meetings.
Issue Resolution: Track and respond to customer enquiries, complaints, and resolve issues within set SLAs.
Logistics Oversight: Follow-up and expedite deliveries with vendors to ensure timely supply.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Related fields, Social Sciences, or Supply Chain Management (Required).
Master’s Degree: An MBA or Business Related Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Professional License: A valid Practising License from the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) is required.
Professional Membership: Membership in KISM is required; membership in the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent is an added advantage.
Experience:
At least 3 years of total professional experience.
Minimum of 2 years in Purchasing.
Minimum of 2 years in Customer Service.
Minimum of 2 years of Commercial experience (negotiation, market analysis, and knowledge).
