IDinsight is hiring a Social Media Intern to join its global Strategic Communications team. In this role, you will work directly with our Design and Digital Communications teammates to manage IDinsight's social media channels: LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and Instagram. We are looking for someone who treats social media as an editorial product: someone who thinks about what we publish, why a given platform is the right home for it, and how the content performs once it is out in the world. You will plan the calendar, draft the copy, design the visuals, run the analytics, and pitch the campaigns. Across all of it, you will be representing IDinsight's voice to a global audience of researchers, funders, policymakers, and practitioners.
Key Responsibilities
- Run and pitch campaigns: Support recurring campaigns and have the liberty to pitch and run your own.
- Analyze performance across platforms: Study how content is performing. Track follower growth, engagement, click-throughs, and qualitative signals. Distill what is resonating and flag platform trends, algorithm shifts, and emerging formats.
- Plan the editorial calendar: Own the monthly social media calendar across all four platforms. Coordinate with the communications team and project leads to sustain the content pipeline.
- Create platform-native content: Draft captions and design visuals (LinkedIn carousels, short-form video, motion graphics, data visualizations, and static posts) aligned with IDinsight's brand system.
- Repurpose long-form research: Translate blogs, reports, policy briefs, and podcasts into bite-sized social content tailored to each channel.
- Support event communications: Manage pre and post-event social media content for convenings, webinars, and conferences.
- Manage community engagement: Monitor comments, mentions, and DMs, and proactively engage with content from partner organizations and peer institutions.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of major social media platforms (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram) and their best practices.
- Strong copywriting and creative storytelling instincts.
- A keen visual eye and comfort with design tools like Canva (Figma, Adobe Suite, and video editing tools are a plus).
- Working familiarity with Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Analytics, and X Analytics.
- An analytical mindset with a passion for data-driven storytelling.
- Interest in the international development and social impact sector.
- Alignment with IDinsight's mission and values.
Professional Development
Interns receive significant mentorship from IDinsight leadership, support from talented peers, and considerable autonomy. Teammates maintain professional development plans and have access to an annual professional development stipend.
