The Shop Floor Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that production targets are achieved in line with product specifications and quality parameters. This role involves maintaining the smooth running of production processes, managing shift staff, and ensuring health and safety standards are adhered to on the shop floor. The supervisor will also play a key role in continuous improvement and staff development.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Production Management: Ensure production targets are met according to specifications and quality parameters; account for production wastage on shift.
Staff Supervision: Manage shift staff, ensuring correct attendance and headcount per the production plan.
Quality Control: Maintain full responsibility for product quality in line with company systems and specifications.
Leadership: Manage, develop, and motivate staff; handle grievances and disciplinary issues according to company policies.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor and report on production process performance and general operational issues.
Communication: Ensure effective communication within the shift and coordinate handovers with other Shift Supervisors.
Health and Safety: Enforce compliance with Health and Safety rules and report incidents to relevant authorities.
Problem Solving: Use troubleshooting skills to identify root causes and resolve production challenges.
Training: Identify and coordinate training needs for the department's current and future demands.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in the company's growth-focused continuous improvement plans.
Housekeeping: Maintain high standards of workplace cleanliness and safety.
Resource Optimization: Use company resources effectively to ensure optimal operating costs.
General Duties: Manage workflows as directed by the Production Manager and assist with ISO QMS, OH&S, EMS, and EnMS implementation.
Key Outputs and Accountabilities
Generation of daily and 2-hourly production reports.
Achievement of production targets with minimum wastage.
Adherence to quality parameters and product specifications.
Efficient staff allocation and utilization.
Maintenance of good housekeeping and worker safety.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Minimum 'O' Level or Diploma in Engineering or Business Management. (Note: Company metadata also lists BA/BSc/HND preference).
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a similar supervisory position within a manufacturing environment.
Skills: Proficiency in computer applications, people management, and strong analytical/communication skills.
