The Senior Technician GSM will perform maintenance and operations activities within the assigned area (Central Rift Valley), ensuring the quality and continuity of the services as per the set KPIs, within the budgeted costs. The role involves executing and following up on network extensions, as well as detecting and flagging dysfunctions of network elements.
Key Responsibilities
Fault Management: Attend to equipment faults logged in through the trouble ticket (TT) system in compliance with corrective maintenance KPIs.
Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive routine maintenance to ensure consistent equipment and environmental health checks. Accurately carry out preventive maintenance programs and compile detailed reports.
Incident Coordination: Work in coordination with Support and NMC teams while analyzing fault incidents to ensure accurate and timely correction is achieved, confirming and communicating clears as necessary.
Network Improvement: Propose improvement actions for the network structure.
Site Commissioning: Jointly perform new site commissioning tests with equipment vendors, accepting only links/sites that meet criteria set in engineering standards and equipment factory specifications.
Reporting: Compile and submit reports on all maintenance-related matters and attend daily meetings for performance evaluation.
Outage Analysis: Establish and show cause of link failures by filling out the Reason for Outage (RCA) form, producing evidence as demanded.

Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication.
Certifications: Lean Six Sigma – Yellow Belt and CCNA Certification.
Licensing: Valid Driving License.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in transmission network maintenance.
Competencies and Skills
Technical: Network Management Systems, Radio Rigging, knowledge of GSM 2/3G/4G architecture, and a good understanding of BSS/transmission technology. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Troubleshooting.
Behavioral: Customer focus, strong planning and organizing abilities, collaborative team worker, innovative thinker, and analytical mindset with risk management capability.
