The Senior Superintending Engineer (Structural) is a key technical role within the Nakuru County Government, responsible for the high-level planning, structural design, and overall supervision of construction projects across the county. The successful candidate will oversee structural designs for buildings, civil and marine works, while providing administrative leadership to the structural engineering unit.
Responsibilities
Planning and Design: Carry out structural design and planning for buildings, civil and marine works, and various other structures.
Project Supervision: Oversee construction works to ensure they adhere to engineering specifications and safety standards.
Project Administration: Handle the general administration of engineering projects under the structural unit.
Tender and Cost Management: Prepare comprehensive tender documents and provide accurate cost estimates for civil, structural, and marine works.
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor professional and technical staff working within the structural unit.
Requirements
Professional Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the grade of Senior Engineer (Structural) or a comparable and relevant position within the public service.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
Professional Registration: Must be registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya (ERB).
Leadership Skills: Demonstrated general administrative ability required for the direction, control, and implementation of structural programs, including staff supervision.
Performance Record: Proven merit and ability as reflected in past work performance and results.
