Job Purpose
The jobholder is responsible for managing client relationships to achieve set sales targets and wallet share, ensuring sustained business growth and profitability in the assigned customer segment. The role involves selling, cross-selling, and up-selling the bank’s products and services while building long-term, profitable customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Branch Strategic Input and Planning
- Contribute to the completion of the branch operational plan by preparing and implementing an individual business plan.
- Formulate and implement personal initiatives for assigned and new business portfolios aimed at increasing new business and share of wallet from existing clients.
- Prepare a personal action plan that contributes to the overall branch budget.
Business Growth & Development
- Take full responsibility for all product lines and business development for new and assigned portfolios.
- Achieve growth targets for both Assets and Liabilities, ensuring income and portfolio quality.
- Drive client recruitment, increased transactional income, and cross-selling of products as per set bank targets.
- Develop new business opportunities and monitor activities in line with the Bank’s long-term strategic plans.
- Ensure full compliance with the Bank’s Credit Policy and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) guidelines.
- Utilize the bank's MIS system for continuous performance tracking and monitoring of customer satisfaction.
Marketing & Brand Management
- Build the Sidian Bank Brand to ensure the bank is top of mind as an enterprise bank.
- Understand and provide direction based on market analysis of local area consumer trends and competitor offerings.
- Establish relationships with key clients or business influencers in the local area.
Relationship Management & Customer Experience
- Drive customer satisfaction and advocacy to enhance organic growth.
- Achieve set customer satisfaction scores (CSAT), Customer Effort Score (CES), and Net Promoter Score (NPS).
- Minimize customer attrition by proactively responding to queries and complaints.
- Identify financial requirements of High Net Worth (HNW) clients by conducting financial needs analysis.
Branch Operations
- Support branch operations as assigned by the Branch Manager, including acting as a branch custodian and adhering to cash procedures.
Personal Leadership & Development
- Set performance objectives and measures of success in liaison with the Branch Manager.
- Prepare an annual Personal Development Plan (PDP) and ensure its actualization.
- Adhere to bank policies, including dress code and the code of conduct.
Risk & Compliance
- Ensure all onboarded customers meet AML/CFT/CPF guidelines and are screened adequately.
- Continuously monitor customer transactions and document the purpose of complex or unusual large transactions.
- Identify high-risk accounts (e.g., PEPs) and ensure timely KYC updates and proper risk categorization.
- Ensure Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) information is obtained and captured accurately.
Decision Making Authority
- Customer onboarding as per policy.
- Portfolio management as per policy.
- Credit appraisal and debt monitoring for accounts in PAR or NPL as per policy.
- KYC compliance as per policy.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Academic Background: University degree or above in a relevant business discipline (e.g., Business Administration or Finance).
- Work Experience: At least 7 years’ experience in retail banking and/or commercial banking, including a minimum of 4 years sales experience.
- Professional Certification: Diploma in Banking – AKIB (added advantage).
- Knowledge: Sound knowledge of Retail Banking/SME products and a thorough understanding of the CBK regulatory framework.
- Skills: Strong leadership, marketing, sales, relationship building, and analytical skills.
