Senior Registrar Obstetrics & Gynaecologist

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Attend to antenatal mothers, review medical reports, and conduct safe deliveries. Undertake clinical procedures and examinations.
• Clinical Rounds: Carry out ward rounds with Senior Consultants and ensure patients receive utmost attention and care.
• Surgical Procedures: Conduct both elective and emergency surgeries.
• Departmental Oversight: Oversee the daily running of the department and ensure hospital policies and administrative regulations are well-known and understood by staff.
• Consultation & Guidance: Consult on cases where Senior House Officers (SHOs) require expert guidance.
• Policy & Strategy: Assist management in drafting and implementing departmental policies and procedures. Advise on the procurement of medical equipment and supplies.
• Mentorship & Supervision: Coach and supervise Senior House Officers and elective students. Conduct Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities.
• Administration: Liaise with HR & Talent Development to maintain appropriate staffing levels and follow up on any patient complaints or concerns.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery.
• Masters of Medicine in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (MMED).
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
• Certifications in ECOG, EmONC, and ALSO.
