The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) is seeking a Senior Regional Services Officer for its Kisumu Regional Office. This position is responsible for the implementation of programs and practices that support region-specific best practices that contribute to the realization of Human Rights. This role supports partnership building with stakeholders in regional communities to find innovative ways to shape sustainable and strategic alliances for the advancement of Human Rights programs.

Duration: Permanent and Pensionable
Gross Salary: Kshs. 141,950
Key Responsibilities
Managerial Responsibilities
Provide supervisory support to the Regional Coordinator.
Oversee quality control to meet the Commission’s standards on complaints processing, investigations, public education, and outreach activities.
Operational Responsibilities
Implement regional office projects and oversee systems to determine effective processing of human rights complaints according to the Commission’s mandate and standards of service.
Screen clients/petitioners and receive inquiries for complaints processing from victims seeking redress for human rights violations to facilitate the justice process and seek favorable outcomes.
Promote proactive resolutions of complaints on human rights violations including through ADR or court processes.
Carry out investigations and legal research in response to Human Rights violations and follow up on implementation of recommendations.
Prepare draft quality quarterly, bi-annual, and annual activity reports on programs implemented at the regional offices.
Manage financial resources assigned for project activities and ensure accountability of funds.
Facilitate public education and training programs on human rights.
Assist in the management of regional partnerships necessary for the capacity enhancement of the Commission’s work in the region.
Execute program activities such as human rights clinics and legal aid forums for the capacity building of regional partners and stakeholders on human rights laws based on the Kenyan Constitution.
Plan, implement, and participate in regional trainings, public forums, human rights clinics, and other public engagement in conjunction with partners.
Coordinate timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual work plans and reports.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or an equivalent from a recognized university.
Must be admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya (for lawyers).
3 years of service in a comparable position from a reputable organization.
Good understanding of human rights and other relevant laws.
Good research skills.
Good communication, listening, and client management skills.
Computer literacy.
