Senior Programme Officer, Health Promotion and Capacity Development

About the Role

The National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) is a state Corporation whose mission is to provide policy and strategic framework for mobilizing and coordinating resources for the prevention and control of syndemic diseases in Kenya. The Senior Programme Officer for Health Promotion and Capacity Development will provide technical support and capacity building for the prevention, control, and management of Syndemic diseases. The role is pivotal in strengthening primary health care systems in Kenya through the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and review of program policies, strategies, and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Coordination: Support relevant technical program leads to coordinate and implement relevant policies, strategies, and guidelines at all levels of administration and service provision.
• Monitoring and Reporting: Document findings and key lessons for improved accountability and quality reporting. Update reporting tools and systems accordingly.
• Issue Resolution: Identify and document challenges related to syndemic diseases to facilitate support or action.
• Data Analysis: Collate data and studies relevant to programmatic needs and trends to inform strategy.
• Inclusion and Non-Discrimination: Participate in establishing structures and promoting interventions that ensure privacy, non-discrimination, and non-stigmatization of the infected and affected.
• Workplace Policies: In collaboration with other departments, support the development and implementation of sector-specific workplace policies for both formal and informal sectors.
• Community Awareness: Raise awareness and improve knowledge to create an impactful response to strategic diseases among communities.

Job Competencies and Qualifications

• Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Economics, Epidemiology, Medicine, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related disciplines from a recognized institution.
• Professional Membership: Membership in a relevant professional body (where applicable).
• Leadership Training: Completion of a supervisory course from a recognized institution.
• Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of relevant working experience.
