Job Description
Inkomoko is seeking a Senior People & Culture Advisor to support its Kenyan operations. Reporting to the P&C Manager, Kenya, the successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of human resources functions, focusing on business partnering, operational excellence, and employee welfare. This role requires a strategic approach to HR while remaining hands-on in administrative and operational tasks to support the organization's mission of empowering entrepreneurs.
Key Responsibilities
Business Partnering (20%)
Work closely with employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Provide technical support on HR processes including recruitment, staff onboarding, talent management, and development.
Implement change management processes to improve business performance.
Collaborate with the Talent Development team to ensure the performance management cycle is respected and appraisals are carried out timely.
Support the implementation of training and development programs.
P&C Operations and Administration (30%)
Coordinate administration activities including staff bio-data management, employee welfare, medical insurance, and payroll drafting.
Contribute to the design, review, and implementation of P&C policies and systems to operate within statutory requirements.
Review systems and processes to identify and address gaps for effective service delivery.
Prepare administrative letters and maintain accurate records of income tax and pension records.
Organize P&C events and ensure employees have the necessary tools to perform their jobs.
Coordinate the separation process, including exit interviews and data collection.
Employee Relations & Welfare (10%)
Report and arbitrate employee relation issues.
Manage the P&C calendar and coordinate department events.
Oversee staff medical insurance compliance and payment requests.
Lead recognition of employee milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries, and other significant life events.
Systems & Employee Bio-data Management (20%)
Maintain comprehensive electronic records of employee files.
Ensure data in the People Management system (Odoo) is secure and up-to-date.
Report on P&C operations and demographics to measure the value added to the organization.
Update internal communication platforms (Slack) regarding new hires and staff changes.
Recruitment & Onboarding (10%)
Manage the recruitment lifecycle: post positions, screen applicants, and set up interviews.
Conduct background checks and assist with contract finalization.
Coordinate onboarding meetings and ensure tools are prepared for new staff.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in HRM, Management, or a related field.
HR certification or advanced education is an added advantage.
6+ years of HR experience with exposure to HR Business Partnering, Operational Excellence, and Change Management.
Absolute confidentiality and discretion.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HR Management Systems (e.g., Odoo).
Excellent communicator in both English and French (spoken and written).
Understanding of the Ethiopian Employment Act (as specified in the source text, though based in Kenya).
