We are seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join our team in Nairobi. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering database environments, ensuring high availability, performance optimization, and robust disaster recovery solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and administer database environments, specifically Oracle and/or SQL Server.
Implement, maintain, and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, such as Data Guard and Availability Groups.
Perform database performance tuning and troubleshooting using tools like AWR, ASH, and execution plans.
Design, implement, and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, native tools).
Deploy and manage databases on cloud platforms, with a preference for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Work efficiently within Linux/Unix environments.
Requirements
Education: BA/BSc/HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in database administration (Oracle and/or SQL Server).
Technical Skills:
Strong expertise in HA/DR solutions (Data Guard, Availability Groups).
Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting tools (AWR, ASH, execution plans).
Hands-on experience with backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, native tools).
Exposure to cloud platforms, preferably Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
