The Senior Officer, Technical Partnerships for Economic Recovery & Development (ERD+) will play a critical role in influencing and guiding strategic private-sector engagement across fundraising priorities. This position involves working closely with leadership to develop and implement business development strategies, overseeing strategic positioning materials, and enhancing the International Rescue Committee's (IRC) competitiveness in priority areas.
Key Responsibilities
Influence and Guide Strategic Private-Sector Engagement (30%)
- Collaborate with the Associate Director, ERD, and I@S Leadership to develop and implement business development strategies (I@S priorities and Outcome Strategies), including donor engagement plans.
- Represent I@S priority areas within agile teams and thought leadership working groups.
- Influence resource-mobilization strategies for I@S and shape donor pathways geared toward scale.
- Support alignment across technical and fundraising teams for I@S pipelines.
- Work with Global Program Leaders (GPLs) and Regional Leads to shape project ideas, proactive messaging, and materials for donor pitches.
- Demonstrate a strong command of current global thought leadership and advancements in applicable subject matter.
Business Development (30%)
- Provide high-level advisory input to GPLs and fundraising teams across priority areas.
- Maintain a portfolio of support for key "ready for scale" priorities.
- Develop multifaceted and compelling materials for strategic partnership development, including 'big bets' and new prospects.
- Support the creation of stewardship plans for restricted and loosely restricted donors in collaboration with account managers and donor engagement teams.
- Lead or support proposal development processes, bringing together cross-organizational teams and senior leadership.
- Participate in donor meetings, providing technical expertise and strategy support.
- Maintain knowledge of IRC ERD technical approaches, operating contexts, and sectoral trends.
Internal Coordination & Process Improvements (20%)
- Develop and operationalize standard ways of working and process workflows for cross-functional projects.
- Ensure effective support to internal partners by leading cross-functional meetings and ensuring timely follow-up actions.
- Create information-sharing systems with Technical Units and High Value counterparts.
Portfolio Management Support (20%)
- Engage across the duration of strategic grants to ensure donor requirements and compliance are met.
- Design creative, long-term engagement strategies to deepen donor commitment.
- Provide post-award project management support on large strategic grants as requested.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 6-7 years of related work experience, preferably with a large International Non-Governmental Organization in programs, fundraising, and/or advocacy.
- Bachelor’s degree in international development, social work, or other relevant area, or equivalent professional experience.
- Outstanding communication, relationship management, writing, and presentation skills.
- Experience with global ERD programming in low-resource settings.
- Experience working with fundraising and grants management processes.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate around ERD programming and strategy across both technical and lay audiences.
- Experience fundraising for ERD or related programming; ability to quickly get up to speed on technical content and strategy.
- Excellent track record of delivering on sophisticated proposals and projects.
- Experience across strategic partnership development, program design and development, fundraising and communications channels.
- Experience developing and implementing multi-million-dollar partnerships.
