Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Internal Audit (Quality Assurance & Improvement Program – QAIP) is responsible for developing, implementing and enhancing leading practices within the Group Internal Audit Function. This role ensures compliance with the Institute of Internal Auditors’ (IIA) Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS), NCBA Internal Audit methodologies, and the Audit Charter.
Unlike traditional audit roles, this position does not involve planning, executing, or reporting on regular internal audits or special reviews. Instead, it focuses on audit quality assurance, process improvements, and external Quality Assurance (QA) coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and enhance the Quality Assurance & Improvement Program (QAIP) within the Group Internal Audit Function.
Ensure strict compliance with the Institute of Internal Auditors’ (IIA) Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS).
Maintain and update the NCBA Internal Audit methodologies and Audit Charter to reflect leading practices.
Oversee audit quality assurance through continuous monitoring and periodic self-assessments.
Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance audit efficiency and effectiveness.
Coordinate and manage external quality assurance assessments and reviews.
Monitor risk-based assurance compliance and adherence to professional standards across the department.
Qualifications and Experience
Academic Background: Must be a University graduate. A Master’s degree is considered an added advantage.
Professional Certifications: Must hold CIA, CPA (K), or ACCA qualifications.
Specialized Certification: Quality Assessor Certification is required.
IT Certifications: Basic IT professional qualifications, specifically CISA, CISM, and CISP, are an added advantage.
Work Experience: Minimum of 5 - 10 years’ experience in Internal Audit Quality Assurance (IA QA).
Leadership Experience: At least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within the financial services industry or a related consulting role (including experience as an external quality assurance provider).
