Job Description
The Senior Legal Services Officer at the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) is responsible for providing essential support in the delivery of legal services. The role involves collecting, verifying, and compiling legal information and documents to support the department's objectives and ensure the Council operates within the legal framework of Kenya.
Responsibilities
Preparing comprehensive legal opinions and providing interpretation of legal information.
Conducting internal training and disseminating legal information to Council staff.
Reviewing and drafting contracts, agreements, and internal policies to ensure full compliance with statutory and legal requirements.
Monitoring and reporting on non-compliance issues and managing pre-litigation disputes and inquiries.
Contributing to policy development and offering advice on legal policy matters.
Developing legal instruments and ensuring adherence to the principles and values of good governance.
Implementing strategic plans and objectives within the legal function.
Providing legal risk reviews and proactive legal advice to management.
Reviewing ongoing cases and keeping track of legislative changes in Kenyan laws that affect the Council.
Drafting Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and other legal documents on behalf of the Board.
Requirements
A Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B) degree from a recognized institution.
A Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Active membership in the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
Completion of a supervisory course from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
A minimum of four (4) years’ relevant work experience.
