Senior Legal Officer

• Receive and process cases filed against the County Executive.
• Conduct inquiries into received cases and establish legal facts.
• Compile and analyze cases to facilitate informed decision-making.
• Implement strategies and guidelines for case handling while maintaining an updated case database.
• Liaise with relevant County Departments regarding legal actions filed against the Executive.
• Prepare bi-annual and periodic status reports on legal cases.
• Ensure compliance with policy and legal requirements in all county undertakings to safeguard the county's interest.
• Represent the County Executive in litigation and other legal proceedings.
• Draft legal documents, instruments, legal opinions, briefs, leases, contracts, and memoranda of understanding (MOUs).
• Conduct legal research on pending cases and emerging legal trends to facilitate justice.
• Identify issues and areas for policy formulation and review.
• Recommend Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms where appropriate.
• Supervise junior legal counsel and subordinate staff within the Office of the County Attorney.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the County Attorney.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university.
• At least five (5) years of post-admission experience.
• Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
• Active member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) in good standing.
• Possession of a valid Practicing License.
• Conversant with the operations of County Governments and applicable Kenyan laws.
• Demonstrated professional competence and high-level performance results.
