Senior Lecturer in Nursing

Rongo University is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Senior Lecturer in Nursing. The successful candidate will teach and examine undergraduate and graduate nursing programmes, supervise student research, and take a lead in research proposals, academic programme development, and university administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach and examine courses in undergraduate and graduate programmes.
• Supervise undergraduate projects, tutorials, and practical, field, and attachment sessions.
• Supervise theses, dissertation, and project research for graduate programmes.
• Examine theses and dissertations.
• Take leadership in developing academic programmes.
• Take leadership in the development and execution of funded research and development proposals.
• Disseminate information through publications, registration of products, and other appropriate fora.
• Carry out internal administrative functions in committees, boards, and other appointments.
• Provide professional consultancies and community services.
• Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements for Appointment

• Doctor of Philosophy or equivalent (OR Master's degree qualification in special cases) from a recognized institution in the relevant specialization.
• Registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
• At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a Lecturer or six (6) years of research/industry experience.
• A minimum of eight (8) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which at least six (6) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
• Supervised at least three (3) postgraduate students at Master's or PhD level to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent (Supervision of postgraduate students at PhD level is by PhD holders).
• Must have participated in professional consultancies and/or community services.
• Must have participated in administrative duties including board, committees, and other appointments within the University.
• An applicant for the position of Senior Research Fellow shall have an additional four (4) publication points of which at least two (2) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
