Kirinyaga University is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology to join the faculty. The role involves teaching, research, academic mentorship, curriculum development, and departmental administration.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and evaluation of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Setting, moderating, administering, processing, and marking examinations.
Academic advising and mentoring of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Participating in professional and community services.
Initiating linkages and resource mobilization.
Initiating, promoting, and conducting research.
Developing teaching and learning materials.
Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in research activities.
Participating in the preparation of Department and Faculty development plans.
Attending and participating in seminars, workshops, and conferences in relevant fields.
Participating in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of curricula in the Department.
Attending and participating in Departmental meetings and other activities for effective and efficient management of the Department and Faculty.
Undertaking administrative duties and other responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications & Requirements
An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in Epidemiology or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a Lecturer, or six (6) years of research/industry experience.
Registered with a relevant professional body (where applicable).
A minimum of forty (40) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, with at least fifteen (15) from refereed scholarly journals.
Successfully supervised at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent.
