Job Description
Role Overview
National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL) is a State Corporation within the Ministry of Health for Quality Control of Medicines on behalf of the Government. The Senior Laboratory Analyst (Quality Control and Instrumentation Checks), at position level NQCL 6, is responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of medicinal products through rigorous laboratory analysis and adherence to established protocols. This role involves both hands-on analysis and administrative oversight of laboratory procedures on a 1-year contract basis.
Key Responsibilities
SOP Management: Drafting and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent laboratory practices.
Sample Preparation: Preparing laboratory reagents, solutions, specimens, and samples for routine analysis.
Reporting: Generating accurate and timely test reports based on analytical findings.
Safety & Environment: Actively participating in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities to maintain a secure working environment.
Inventory Control: Conducting stock taking of chemicals and managing the laboratory inventory.
Quality Testing: Performing laboratory Proficiency Testing (PT) and Inter-Laboratory Comparison (ILC) tests as guided by established protocols.
Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning specialized laboratory equipment and ensuring its proper function.
Sanitization: Decontaminating and sterilizing glassware used for biological analysis.
Process Validation: Validating cleaning processes for glassware, equipment, and surfaces used in biological analysis.
Requirements and Qualifications
A minimum cumulative relevant service period of six (6) years, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Laboratory Analyst I or a comparable position.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Valid membership to a professional body and a Registration Certificate where applicable.
High proficiency in computer applications.
