Job Description
Role Overview
The Senior Laboratory Analyst (Biologics and Vaccines Testing Analysis) is a specialized position within the National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL), a State Corporation under the Ministry of Health. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of medicines on behalf of the government, specifically focusing on the analysis of biologics and vaccines. This is a one-year contract position at Level NQCL 6.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
SOP Development: Draft and implement standard operating procedures to maintain high laboratory standards.
Laboratory Analysis: Prepare laboratory reagents, solutions, specimens, and samples for routine biological analysis.
Technical Reporting: Generate detailed and accurate test reports based on laboratory findings.
Safety Compliance: Actively participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities within the lab.
Inventory Management: Conduct stock taking of chemicals and other laboratory materials and manage general inventory.
Quality Assurance: Perform laboratory Proficiency Testing (PT) and Inter-Laboratory Comparison (ILC) tests following established protocols.
Equipment Care: Clean and maintain specialized laboratory equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Sterilization: Decontaminate and sterilize glassware specifically used for biological analysis.
Process Validation: Validate cleaning processes for glassware, equipment, and surfaces used in biological analysis.
Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
A cumulative relevant service period of at least six (6) years, with a minimum of three (3) years served at the grade of Laboratory Analyst I or in a comparable position.
Membership to a relevant professional body and possession of a Registration Certificate where applicable.
Proficiency in computer applications.
