Job Description
The National Council for Children's Services (NCCS) is a State Corporation established under the Children Act, 2022, mandated to regulate, coordinate, and oversight children services in Kenya and advise the government on all matters relating to children. NCCS is looking for a qualified Senior Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Driving the Council’s staff as authorized.
Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments and ensuring the vehicle is in proper mechanical working condition.
Keeping up-to-date work tickets for vehicles.
Recognizing and reporting mechanical defaults of the vehicles.
Maintaining the cleanliness of vehicles.
Ensuring the security and safety of the vehicle and passengers on and off the road.
Monitoring and reporting the expiry of insurance policies for motor vehicles.
Preparing and submitting reports on transport when the need arises.
Ensuring strict adherence to traffic laws and regulations.
Ensuring the reporting of any incidents to the police and/or the office immediately they occur.
Undertaking any other functions as may be lawfully assigned.
Job Specifications and Requirements
For appointment to this grade, the candidate must have:
Served for a minimum period of nine (9) years, three (3) of which must be at the grade of Driver I or in a comparable position.
At least a mean grade D (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
A valid driving license free from any current endorsements(s) for classes of the vehicles the driver is required to drive.
A defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association of Kenya (AA) or its equivalent qualification from any other recognized institution.
A First Aid certificate course.
A valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Occupational Trade Test Grade I for drivers.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Completed a Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week at the Kenya Authority of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
