About the Role
Absa Bank Limited is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise DevOps platforms, automation frameworks, and cloud-native delivery pipelines that enable secure, scalable, and reliable software delivery.
Key Focus Areas & Responsibilities
- Strategy Execution: Support DevOps and DevSecOps strategies aligned to enterprise objectives; contribute to the adoption of modern engineering and automation practices.
- Customer Primacy: Ensure platform services meet availability and reliability standards, enabling faster delivery of customer-facing capabilities.
- Sustainable Growth: Automate operational tasks, optimize platform scalability, and support cloud adoption and modernization initiatives.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps adoption, and evaluate emerging DevOps tools and technologies.
- Collaboration & Team Enablement: Partner with engineering and security teams to provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
- Operational Effectiveness: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, manage Kubernetes and container platforms, and implement monitoring and observability solutions.
- Digital Adoption: Promote DevOps tools, automation, and platform standardization.
- Governance, Risk & Compliance: Embed security controls into delivery processes to ensure compliance with enterprise standards.
- Data & Observability: Implement logging, monitoring, tracing, and dashboards.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with developers, architects, and business stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 5–8 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Engineering.
- Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring/logging solutions.
- Certifications (Advantageous): Azure DevOps Engineer, AWS DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Terraform Associate.
