We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Natural Capital team. Our team is composed of individuals who are genuinely excited by the opportunity to make a difference in some of the most challenging yet exciting markets in the world. This role involves leading investment advisory and project management within the Natural Capital sector across Francophone Africa, with a specific focus on conservation and nature-based solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Project & Transaction Management: Manage multiple projects, deals, and workstreams concurrently with various supporting staff configurations. Support and manage teams in the implementation of complex transactions, projects, and tasks.
- Relationship Management: Independently cultivate and manage relationships with existing and potential investors, clients, companies, and other stakeholders. Drive workstreams with clients directly and independently.
- Strategic Analysis: Conduct and draft analyses, including market assessments, investment memorandums, and macroeconomic, regulatory, and operational assessments.
- Decision Making: Make complex and challenging value-driven decisions and manage entire project portfolios.
- Talent Development: Mentor junior staff, foster talent across the firm, and encourage a diversity of people and ideas. Support recruitment and contribute to building the firm's culture.
- Specialized Advisory: Advise on carbon project development and deal structuring.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred (or another relevant advanced degree/professional qualification).
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, or similar.
- Regional Knowledge: Experience living and/or working in underserved markets is required; specific experience in Central Africa and the Congo Basin is highly preferred.
- Sector Expertise: Background or experience in natural capital, conservation, forestry, agriculture, or similar sectors is strongly preferred. Knowledge of carbon markets and experience developing carbon projects is a plus.
- Language Skills: Fluency in both English and French is required.
