Job Description
The Senior Assistant Director of Medical Services/Medical Specialist I (Epidemiologist) is responsible for providing specialized medical care and managing epidemiological initiatives within Makueni County. This role involves clinical diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, alongside specialized care and psycho-social interventions. The officer will also be instrumental in disease surveillance, health research, and the implementation of health projects to improve public health outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Undertaking general diagnosis, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients.
Carrying out specialized clinical care and providing psycho-social interventions.
Providing clinical services to patients and performing surgeries in various health facilities.
Training, consulting, and performing surgeries in various health facilities.
Carrying out forensic and medico-legal services.
Coordinating disease surveillance, prevention, and control.
Coordinating health education and promotion.
Implementing health projects and programs.
Maintaining up-to-date health information systems.
Monitoring provision of health treatment and care.
Undertaking health research and analyzing medical reports.
Requirements for Appointment
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
Master's degree in any of the following fields: Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics and Child Health, Health Informatics, Epidemiology, or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Registration certificate by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) Course or its equivalent lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution.
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Compensation and Terms
Salary Scale: Job Group ‘Q’ (Ksh. 105,570 - 139,179 per month).
