Tropical Heat is looking for a Senior Accountant to oversee its daily accounting operations and ensure financial precision across various business units. This role is central to the finance department, involving the management of monthly closing cycles, ensuring statutory compliance, and strengthening internal financial controls. You will be a key partner to the operations, supply chain, and sales departments, providing critical financial insights and supporting commercial strategies to drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Oversight: Manage day-to-day accounting operations for multiple business units.
Financial Reporting: Lead the monthly closing process and ensure all reports are accurate and submitted on time.
Reconciliations: Perform comprehensive reconciliations for bank accounts, debtors, creditors, inventory, and inter-company transactions.
Working Capital Management: Implement and monitor controls for debtors, creditors, and inventory to optimize working capital.
Statutory Compliance: Manage all statutory requirements, including VAT and PAYE, and coordinate corporate tax filings.
Audit Support: Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external audit processes.
Cost Accounting: Maintain rigorous cost accounting disciplines specific to the manufacturing environment.
Process Improvement: Continuously refine finance processes, internal controls, and documentation standards.
Business Partnering: Collaborate with Sales and Supply Chain teams to ensure financial accuracy and support commercial activities like pricing, margin analysis, and joint business planning.
System Automation: Assist in driving technology initiatives and improvements within the ERP system.
Credit Control: Partner with Sales on credit discipline, customer limits, and collection performance.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree (BA/BSc/HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certification: Fully certified ACCA or CPA(K) qualification.
Experience: 5 to 8+ years of professional accounting experience, specifically within the FMCG or manufacturing sectors.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel; extensive experience with ERP systems, particularly Sage Pastel.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of stock management, cost of production, and margin analysis.
Attributes: High integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving mindset. You should be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume transaction environment.
