National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL) is a State Corporation within the Ministry of Health for Quality Control of Medicines on behalf of the Government. The Laboratory is seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant on a one-year contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring financial integrity through rigorous budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with statutory regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Implementing financial regulations, policies, strategies, and plans.
Preparing budgets and implementing budgetary and expenditure control.
Maintaining books of accounts and financial records.
Monitoring revenue collection and expenditures based on approved budgets.
Verifying bank reconciliation statements.
Implementing internal financial controls.
Preparing financial reports and statements.
Maintaining accurate and complete financial records of the Laboratory.
Authorizing payments and claims within set limits as approved.
Ensuring compliance with applicable financial statutory obligations and circulars.
Verifying records relating to Government grants and other donor funds.
Monitoring of statutory deductions and remittance.
Analyzing and reporting on revenue collected to management.
Maintaining financial records for projects and programs.
Identifying, analyzing, and managing financial risk control in the Laboratory.
Monitoring petty cash and preparing quarterly financial management reports.
Person Specifications
Cumulative service period of six (6) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been in the grade of Accountant I or in a comparable position.
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance option), Finance, Economics, Business Administration (Accounting/Finance option), Business Management (Accounting/Finance option), or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
Part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA K) Examination or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
Registered with a relevant professional body such as the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), or its equivalent.
Completion of a Management course from a recognized Institution.
Proficiency in Computer applications.
