J&I is a start-up company in the manufacturing sector, operating a small scale but fast-growing human and animal feed food processing roasted business in Nairobi. We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Sales Executive to join our human food business. The Sales Executive will be responsible for recruiting and securing orders from distributors, supermarkets, minimarts and well-established retail shops on a given route. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the formal and informal retail market, excellent communication skills, and a passion for engaging with clients both in-person and online.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Retail Partnerships: Sign up the business with big retail chains (supermarkets) and distributors in the assigned region.
Relationship Management: Develop and maintain relationships with retail outlets to ensure a consistent flow of orders.
Stock Management: Ensure timely stock replenishment to existing customers.
Market Intelligence: Gather information on client needs and preferences and make suggestions for product improvements.
Production Liaison: Work with the production team to plan production schedules based on demand forecasts.
Digital Engagement: Manage the company’s social media pages and engage with clients.
Content Development: Work with the ICT department to develop suitable content for the website.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Business or Sales and Marketing. A Degree in Marketing will have an added advantage.
Experience: At least 1 year of experience working in FMCG, specifically in retail sales to distributors, supermarkets, and minimarkets.
Network: Having an existing customer base is a mandatory requirement.
Desired Skills and Competencies
Strong communication and customer engagement skills.
Deep knowledge of the informal retail market.
Proficiency in social media management and online client engagement.
Ability to gather and analyze customer feedback for product improvement.
Strong collaboration skills.
A proactive and results-driven attitude with the ability to meet sales targets.
