Role Overview
The SAHL Banking Cluster Manager for the Eastern region is responsible for overseeing and driving the Islamic banking (Sahl) business strategy and operations within an assigned cluster of branches at KCB Bank Kenya. The role involves identifying business development opportunities, ensuring Shariah compliance, providing operational support, and fostering staff competence in Islamic banking principles to achieve regional growth and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Sahl Banking Business Strategy & Development
- Collaborate with the assigned cluster of branches to identify and pursue business development opportunities aligned with Islamic banking principles.
- Analyze product performance metrics across the cluster and recommend strategic actions for improvement.
- Partner with business functions within the cluster to ensure superior customer relationship management for Sahl Banking clients.
Operational Support & Service Excellence
- Provide compliance and operational guidance to branch staff regarding Sahl banking policies, procedures, and systems.
- Liaise with the Sahl Product Support Manager to resolve operational or systemic issues impacting branches.
- Gather and facilitate feedback from branches and customers to enhance product offerings and service delivery.
- Deploy effective relationship and customer management tools across the cluster.
Shariah Compliance & Governance
- Partner with branch teams and Shariah Compliance officers to ensure strict adherence to approved Sahl product structures.
- Support internal audits and reviews by providing necessary operational and compliance data.
Training, Awareness & Staff Development
- Build internal capacity and awareness of Islamic banking principles and products among branch staff.
- Organize and conduct training sessions to enhance staff competence in delivering Sahl services.
- Cultivate a culture of ethical, Shariah-compliant banking throughout the cluster.
Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination
- Coordinate with Operations, IT, Risk, and Customer Experience teams for seamless issue resolution.
- Support community outreach and marketing initiatives to promote Sahl banking awareness.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Develop and submit cluster performance reports, highlighting successes, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
- Monitor and report on customer feedback, operational risks, and compliance status.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university.
- Master's Degree in a business-related field is preferred.
- Islamic Banking Certification is required.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of total professional banking experience.
- At least 5 years specifically in Islamic Banking.
- 3 years of experience in Relationship & Portfolio Management.
- 3 years of experience in Sales Management.
- 3 years of experience in Credit Operations.
- 2 years of experience in Stakeholder Management.
- 2 years of experience in Banking Operations.
- At least 1 year of experience in People Management.
