The Information System Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, management, and support of the SACCO’s Core Banking System (CBS) and related ICT infrastructure. This role is pivotal in ensuring high system availability, data integrity, and security compliance, while providing essential technical support for users and managing integrations with third-party platforms such as mobile banking, ATM switches, CRB, EFT, and internet banking.
Key Responsibilities
System Oversight: Oversee the Sacco’s core banking system, ensuring seamless operation and robust security.
Infrastructure Management: Manage network infrastructure, servers, and system backups to ensure overall operational stability.
Cybersecurity: Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures to safeguard member data and financial transactions.
Technical Support: Provide prompt technical support to staff, resolving IT-related issues and conducting training sessions.
Software Maintenance: Maintain and update Sacco management software to ensure efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance to minimize downtime and implement improvements where necessary.
Security Policies: Manage user accounts, access rights, and data security policies in line with organizational standards.
Vendor Management: Coordinate with external vendors for hardware, software, and general IT service maintenance.
Reporting: Facilitate data processing and generate reports for SASRA, as well as departmental and organizational dashboards.
Business Continuity: Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Documentation: Maintain and update IT documentation and internal policies.
Minimum Qualification & Attributes
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
At least 3–5 years’ experience in IT systems administration specifically within a SACCO, microfinance, or banking environment.
Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Certified (Azure/SQL Server), Linux Administration, ITIL v4 Foundation, CCNA (added advantage), and Database Security / ISO 27001 training.
Proficiency in network administration, firewall management, and cybersecurity protocols.
Active membership in a relevant professional body.
