Job Description
ICS-SP is an innovative African NGO that works in rural areas of Africa together with families, communities, and other stakeholders to create safe and nurturing environments for children to reach their full potential. The Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting fieldwork and data collection to support research initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of children and families.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Data Collection: Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection in accordance with established research methodologies.
Field Research: Facilitate interviews, focus group discussions (FGD), and surveys with project beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Data Management: Transcribe qualitative data accurately and efficiently; organize and manage collected data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Administrative Duties: Attend training workshops for Research Assistants and participate in de-brief meetings after data collection.
Resource Protection: Protect all project equipment and ensure they are all safe and accounted for.
General Support: Perform any other duties assigned by the Research supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: University degree or diploma in Social Science or any relevant discipline.
Experience: Proven experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection for research projects, including carrying out In-depth Interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD).
Technical Proficiency: Previous experience using digital data collection platforms such as KOBO Collect and proficiency in transcription techniques.
Communication: Good written and oral communication in English and Kiswahili; proficiency in local languages is an added advantage.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
Work Ethic: Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Residency Requirement: Must be a local resident from the survey area of Kisumu (Muhoroni).
