The Relationship Officer will assist Relationship Managers in managing portfolios for Chinese-owned businesses with the aim of maximizing the profitability of the overall portfolio. You will identify and provide financial solutions while supporting the sales force by conducting credit reviews, risk evaluations, and monitoring designated portfolios to ensure the bank maintains a high-quality loan book. Additionally, you will be responsible for audit and compliance issues within the department.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development Support
- Grow Chinese business through product volume, new client acquisition, and increased product utilization.
- Develop and implement client strategies with product partners to identify service opportunities.
- Cultivate existing relationships and anticipate Chinese clients’ needs to identify incremental sales opportunities.
- Visit clients, assess needs, and prepare post-visit analysis call reports.
- Assist Relationship Managers with administrative tasks and act as a backup during their absence.
- Maintain product knowledge and support hit list maintenance of potential clients.
- Perform wallet sizing to mine all potential available business from existing clients.
Maintaining Quality Loan Book
- Analyze facility requests as per the bank’s lending manual and credit policy.
- Comprehensively analyze account statistics and present credit proposals in liaison with technical teams.
- Conduct customer visits prior to completing loan applications.
- Monitor the perfection of securities, including insurance coverage and correct charging.
- Confirm all conditions are met and complete compliance certificates.
Credit Administration and Audit
- Follow through on credit applications from proposal to disbursement.
- Monitor portfolios to ensure they remain within limits and avoid arrears or 'hardcore' positions.
- Stay updated on international markets and specific industry sectors relevant to clients.
- Ensure strict adherence to regulations, internal processes, and AML/KYC requirements.
Portfolio Monitoring and Control
- Efficiently manage Department Credit Administration (PAR, Excess, and Collateral).
- Coordinate with analysts on facility requests and departmental requests.
- Maintain a low Portfolio at Risk (PAR) trend (not more than 3% weekly).
- Ensure timely renewal of overdraft limits and recovery of fees and commissions.
- Preparation of responses to audit reports to maintain a 'Satisfactory' rating.
Customer Experience
- Ensure customers enjoy quality service and non-investigative queries are resolved same-day.
- Handle investigative queries within 48 hours.
- Open new accounts and maintain effective relationships with clients.
Personal Leadership & Development
- Manage self-motivation and commitment to learning.
- Adhere to the bank's customer service charter and dress code.
- Prepare annual Personal Development Plans (PDP) and actualize them.
- Act as a Sidian Bank brand ambassador at all times.
Academic Background
- University degree in a relevant business discipline (e.g., Business Administration or Finance).
Work Experience
- At least two (2) years in sales and business development.
- Experience handling Chinese business clients is highly desirable.
- Sound knowledge of Business Banking/SME products and retail banking branch operations.
Skills & Competencies
- Highly effective communicator in the Mandarin language.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Quantitative tools usage for complex credit analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of branch operations, loan granting, and credit risk management.
Professional Certification
- Diploma in Banking – AKIB (added advantage).
